This is a half-day tour that combines snorkeling on the Mesoamerican barrier reef with an awesome private cenote and cave exploration. We begin the day on the reef, for this activity we visit an inlet or a bay to avoid waves and currents, making the snorkeling safe and easy.

Cenotes are one of the most attractive characteristics of the landscape of the Yucatan peninsula. These amazing caves are full of magnificent limestone formations, stalactites, and columns. But it is the fact that they are flooded with rainwater which makes them so special. The color and clarity of the water are phenomenal, creating reflections, light effects, and a mystical feeling that you will agree is completely unique. 

We visit an exclusive cavern where we are able to appreciate the different formations and learn about their process of evolution, walking through chambers and galleries for 600 meters underground. This is the perfect setting to learn about the significance and importance of these caves for the people of the Yucatan. During the first part of the cave, we walk with water about 1 meter deep (3.5 ft.) until we arrive at an area where the ceiling has collapsed and the natural light comes through allowing us to swim in deeper water with natural light. This is truly magical and for some, a spiritual journey through the Mayan Underworld known to the Mayan people as “Xibalba” (shi-bal-ba).
